A Minnesota Mom – Volume 1: Beginnings

By Patricia Carlson Stendal

An ordinary mother. A life‑changing call. A journey that begins long before she ever knew it.

Step into the true story of a young Minnesota mother in the 1960s, overwhelmed by the challenges of raising three small children, managing a household, and trying to keep pace with everyday life—even with the comforts of modern America. When her husband begins speaking about volunteering in a remote mission field, panic sets in. How could she survive in the wilderness when she already feels stretched to her limit at home?

Volume 1: Beginnings – Long Ago and Far Away
This first volume traces the roots of Patricia Carlson Stendal’s remarkable journey, weaving together fascinating stories from the family histories of the main characters. Through these generational threads, readers see how God lovingly moves through time—shaping lives, guiding footsteps, and using ordinary, imperfect people to fulfill His purposes. With honesty, warmth, and a touch of humor, Patricia invites readers into the beginnings of a faith adventure that will take her far beyond anything she imagined.

Today, Patricia is a mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother many times over and continues to make her home in Colombia. Her interests include reading, writing, Indigenous education, cross‑stitch, and world events. She plans to continue writing and sharing the stories that shaped her extraordinary life.
